National association for business economists | cleveland, oh | Fall 2017In the beginning of the year, students had the opportunity to attend the National Association for Business Economists' Annual Conference in Cleveland, Ohio. Students attended speaker series on topics such as growth for the small business sector, healthcare sector productivity, and globalization's effect on trade policy. For three days at the end of September, students were able to network with industry professionals from companies such as Boeing, the Federal Reserve, and more. The NABE conferences are just one of the ways that the Economics Society introduces students to economics outside of the classroom.

KAUTZ-UIBLE LECTURE SERIES | FALL 2017
This year, the Kautz-Uible Fund brought Dr. Miles Corak for the Kautz-Uible Lecture Series. Dr. Corak is a full professor of economics with the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Ottawa in Ottawa Canada. His publications focus on labour markets and social policy, including child poverty, access to university education, social mobility, and unemployment. His recent paper "Income Inequality, Equality of Opportunity, and Intergenerational Mobility," published in the Journal of Economic Perspectives, examines the relationship between inequality and social mobility across countries, a relationship that has become known as the "Great Gatsby Curve." This research has been used by The White House, and has been cited by many of the major print and electronic media.
KAUTZ-UIBLE Women In economics event | WASHINGTON D.C. | fall 2017
This year was the second annual Women in Economics Initiative held in the newly renovated Nippert Stadium. Hosted by alumni Amanda Wait, the lecture event featured Nandita Jena, another alumni, and Dr. Iryna Topolyan, an Associate Professor of Economics at the university. The lecture was focused on the challenges and opportunities that women in economics face and how each of the panelists have viewed and conquered these challenges.
Alumni Panel | FAll 2017Our alumni panel, held this past fall, hosted Matthew Bova, a Manager at Nielsen, and Chloe Bierman, a High Net Worth Financial Representative at Fidelity Investments. Each alumni spoke about their current position, shared some words of wisdom, and answered questions from members at the end. After meeting, students had the opportunity to network with the alumni.

KAUTZ-UIBLE TRIP | WASHINGTON D.C. | SPRING 2018
Every year, the KU Fund takes 17 students on a trip to a major economics hub. This year, students has the opportunity to visit Washington D.C. where they spent the week visiting companies, networking with alumni, and touring famous D.C. sites. Company visits included:

- Center for Strategic and International Studies
- The Federal Deposit and Insurance Corporation
- The Bureau of Economic Research
NABE conference | washington d.c. | spring 2018This year, students had another opportunity to interact with NABE through their policy conference held in Washington D.C. The theme of this years event was, "Promoting Sustained Growth: Policy Tensions and Risks." Students had the opportunity to attend conferences such as Globalization and the Politics of Resentment, Rethinking the Monetary Policy Framework in a Low Interest Rate Environment, and Regulatory Reform and American Prosperity,
